Services - Dental Crowns

Dental crowns, or caps as some people know them, are used to restore teeth that have been damaged by breakage or decay or teeth that have had root canal treatment. Crowns provide a strengthening cover and strong chewing surface. They can also be used to help align and enhance the appearance of broken, discolored teeth and can be made of porcelain, gold, or porcelain overlaid on metal. Dr. Thomas will discuss the choice of materials based on your individual needs both functionally and esthetically.

Should crowns made of porcelain overlaid on metal be selected to meet your needs, rest assured that Dr. Thomas selects only the highest quality of metal, gold high noble, and the most esthetic of porcelains to provide you a highly functional and natural result? For maximum esthetic results, Dr. Thomas limits the use of gold crowns to the most posterior region of your mouth where their strength and longevity are unsurpassed.

Dr. Thomas and you may elect to restore your damaged teeth with all porcelain crowns. Porcelain crowns are a wonderful option for replacing the old style porcelain to metal crowns that may have you left with unsightly grey margins at the gum line.

Much as in the fabrication of porcelain fillings, if prescribed dental crowns may be fabricated in the office utilizing state of the art CEREC computer aided technology.

Should your case need to be completed at an outside laboratory, Dr. Thomas will start with taking molds of the prepared teeth.
